Notes: Terok Nor was originally constructed by the Cardassian Union as an ore mining facility in orbit of Bajor during the Bajorian
occupation. At the end of occupation and the discovery of the Bajorian wormhole the Federation took control of the station, renamed
the station to Deep Space 9 and moved the station to the entrance of the wormhole. The station is composed of the main core,
the habitat ring, and the docking ring. Station operation is contained in the main core along with the station power reactors.
On the docking ring, six pylons extend out of the station and are capable of docking Starfleet's largest ships and twelve smaller
ships along the rings perimeter. Starfleet has upgraded DS9 to a heavily armed installation with a high capacity gravitation
shield system and type X and XI phasers. The Defiant class, U.S.S. Defiant, was also permanently stationed at DS9 during the
Dominion War.
